The Android SmartPlus app support the ability for the phone to be used as an NFC key. However, the iPhone SmartPlus app does not. This is mentioned in the associated KB article: https://knowledge.akuvox.com/docs/how-to-unlock-door-via-nfc . In our environment, close to 90% of our users are on iPhone. Is this feature going to be rolled out to iPhone any time soon?
@Akuvox_Mia, thank you for replying. I think that might be old news and no longer true. Here's an example of another product that does support Apple wallet for access control: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/blackboard-bringing-contactless-student-ids-to-apple-wallet-for-campuses-nationwide-300664855.html . I know a local school campus that uses this other system with iPhones effectively.
It might be a stupid 'work around' but I was looking into adding a RFID tag in my iPhone case, if only to simulate the effect of opening with your phone. haha
Unfortunately Mia is right and this is an apple limitation...
BUT. Perhaps there might be some light at the end for EU users, Apple will open up on NFC together with allowing side loading. Today it's too soon to tell what will be possible, but if NFC is opened up, we might see more flexibility in the near future!
