Mobile Access Challenge with Akuvox A02 – Community to the Rescue!

Edited by mformoso at 2025-03-13 06:32

Hello everyone,

I'm setting up an access control system exclusively using Akuvox A02 devices for a client operating a SelfStorage business (monthly rental of storage units). User management needs to be dynamic and simple, allowing quick additions and removals via the cloud .

Currently, we manage access through PIN codes and RFID cards , but we haven't yet figured out how to enable mobile phone access. We've tested several Akuvox apps, but they seem primarily designed for residential intercom use.

Has anyone implemented a similar scenario and could provide guidance on enabling users to open doors  directly from their mobile phones using Akuvox A02? Any recommendations on specific apps, integrations, or configuration settings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

In an installation where only A01 and A02 access control components are installed
How can I allow users to open the doors using the NFC from mobile telephone, as shown in the product description picture?
    Thank you very much!!!

Are you asking if A02 can be used to open doors via mobile phone? If you have registered A02 on the cloud and use SmartPlus, you can open doors via NFC functionality (only supports Android phones). I think the A03 would probably be the better option with the Bluetooth functionality, you would need the MyMobileKey app.

This would allow compatibility with Android & iPhone.

NFC is definitely an Android only feature currently, an alternative would be to use some sort of RFID tag that can be placed in a phone case or something similar.

Sounds like a good idea, I'm going to buy an A03 unit to try it out.

Since I expect to give access to about 150-200 users. do you know if I can use that functionality without paying additional SmartPlus subscriptions?

I have done many different sites, including self-storage. Setting up the mobile app is very simple, but most clients like to have a remote to open the gate.
You connect a linear wor acp00727, (you can get them as low as $40 on eBay) and you connect via of Wiegand,
Now you have a remote to the gates, and you can also open via card or PIN.
I usually ignore the facility code, but you can set up a 3-digit facility code for more security.

Thank you very much for your comments. The solution you propose seems interesting. I understand that it implies a management of RF users directly from Linear WOR for the registration and deregistration of new remotes and (there would not be a unified view of accesses from the AKUVOX register.

    Thank you very much
